So many of the world’s problems these days can be accounted for by simple issues of personal choice. Personal choice is what drives consumer markets, and this is where we can all make a positive change for the future of the world, simply by choosing to buy fair trade and ethical goods over others. It all sounds so simple, yet not enough people are aware of the difference they can make.

We have all become aware of issues such as fair trade over the past 5 years thanks to the great work being done by many companies. The biggest growth area of fair trade has been in the food industry, with many companies advertising fair trade coffee and tea etc… on national television campaigns. The basic idea behind fair trade is that the farmers, manufacturers, and the craftspeople that make the goods are now being sourced directly by companies in order to cut out the middle man and in return are offering a fairer price to the original makers of a product. In return the customer might expect to pay a few pence more per item as the cost of transportation etc… is increased due to the fact that these companies may not be getting the bulk 24 hour fuel oil suppliers rates that some other commercial buyers receive.

It occurred to me recently that not may people are actually aware of the ethical impacts of buying cheap clothing form some large chain stores. When you think about it, for you to be able to buy a t-shirt for £2 or a pair of jeans for £10, someone somewhere must not be getting paid a fair amount. By taking a little time to look into the moral ethos of a company, and being prepared to pay a little more for your garments to companies that look after the welfare of their manufacturers, you could be making a positive difference to people’s lives across the world. If we all begin to make changes to the way in which we buy, things will change for the better.

If you enjoy snowboarding as a sport or hobby, then you are most probably already aware of the crucial role of protective gear. With so many different brands now available choosing one can be a bit of a challenge. When you shop for modern snowboarding helmets, knowing the basics is essential and makes the process a lot easier. The helmets that are intended for winter sports are designed especially to suit skiing as well as snowboarding.

So before you fill up with red diesel Wakefield and head off to the sports goods shop here is a bit of what you should keep in mind.

While buying, keep in mind what your needs are (e.g. you could use it for recreation, competitions, terrain sport etc). Snowboarding in warmer spring conditions (or within temperate locales) calls for a helmet that is designed with great ventilation, as you will need sufficient airflow to ensure your general comfort. But if you are going to be using it in wet, snowy and tremendously cold conditions, non-ventilated snowboard helmets would be the best bet.

Buy a full-face helmet if you plan to participate in competitions (e.g. speed / slalom events) involving the danger of falling forward. Same goes for competitions involving the risk of head-on collisions with walls or objects. But open-faced helmets are the most economic and popular among those who snowboard for pleasure. They’re not cumbersome and are suitable for recreational purposes.

Modern snowboarding helmet have the additional benefits of sporting an UV stabilized polycarbonate shell which offers rugged strength and added protection. Also, these helmets don’t weigh a ton and are reasonably lightweight. Make sure that the helmet’s internal side is made of extended double-density polystyrene. A helmet which has additional lining inside will be much more comfortable and provide better shielding in case of an accident.

A celebrity said some time ago that fashion is not what we wore to a place, it’s the reason we went. The question here is what is fashion? I am one of the people who believe that there is no direct answer to that question. What fashion means to someone might be the exact opposite of what I think it is. This is where the difference in definition starts from. Our sense of fashion also differs by the type of trend we follow. Not all fashion statements in trend appeal to everybody. For example, I hate skinny jeans on the make folk. My hatred for this trend does not stop even my friends from wearing them. Human opinion differs in almost everything and fashion is not an exception. When I go shopping with friends I prefer to have my goods in paper packaging while the rest prefer the flashy bags and the likes.

For my friends, the type of packaging you carry is a fashion statement on its own. I however do not disagree with them, at least it shows they know what they like and what they want to look like. The problem most people have is that they try to copy people all the time. This is the point where fashion error starts. Fashion is what you call it or what you think it is; not what others think it should be. As long as what you are wearing is not obscene then you are fashionable if you wear and do what you like; what you can afford, and what looks good on you. It has to fit.

While the modern climate might be one of excessive cutbacks and penny pinching like never before, there are certain purchases that will always be 100% necessary – such as clothing and shoes for example. As such, while the rest of the world has its hands as far away from its pockets as feasibly possible, those with a proactive approach to saving are making full use of one of the best elements of the summer – that being the end of season sales.

Unbeknownst to most, the end of season summer clearout is often on a level pegging with the January sales that send the world into a frenzy, though has the added bonus of still being relatively un-capitalized on. A world of distractions including the back top school rush and the post-holiday economizing for millions takes attention far away from retail therapy, leaving the more savvy spender free to revel in the delights of an epic spending spree with staggering savings.

Whether looking to stock up for next year, invest in a new business suit for the winter or even take care of the Christmas shopping without the need for a second mortgage, retailers the world over always mark the end of the summer by practically giving away their wares to make room for the new shipments already waiting in the wings.

Of course, some would argue that this is no time for frivolity, but if the purchases are going to be made at some point in the future anyway, why not make that point right now and save a bundle? Indeed, a spending spree at the right time could prove a business decision too valuable not to make!

When the concept of social networking was first brought into the spotlight quite some time ago, it was heralded as a revolutionary idea that would make general practices of keeping in touch never the same again. Fast-forward to today and it would seem that they were indeed right, but did anyone really have the slightest inkling that the revolution would be quite as expansive and global as it turned out to be?

For those who spend their lives long distances away from their nearest and dearest, social networking sites and other such options are nothing other than a Godsend and can help maintain relationships that would otherwise become rather frayed. However, when it comes to those perhaps living no more than a few doors apart, who could have ever seen the day when an online message or status update would replace the 30 second walk required to pay an actual visit?

The problem is that what text messaging did to increase convenience but kill conversation, social network appears to have done to face to face interaction. The result is a new generation of internet users who spend most of their lives building their relationships and social skills online at the expense of traditional encounters and activities.

Of course, sending an online question about collectible tin boxes to a neighbor five minutes down the street will yield a quicker response, but at the same time eliminates the chance of important interaction which seems to be becoming really rather endangered.

Social networking was designed to boot social lives as an additional tool and not replace them altogether, which it sadly seems to be doing a remarkable job of at this juncture.

An article that appeared in The Economist reminded me just how much of a social impact mobile phones have on our society now. The new Smartphone wave has revolutionised the way we connect with each other across the globe. There are positives and negatives to what’s been happening, but for me one of the most important things that people must now consider is getting the best flatrate for your global mobile internet access. Without it, you might as well revert to banging a cup to attract people’s attention.

There are many phones to choose from and many service providers. Which one should you go for? How many apps will I need to download a day to get full use of the service? How powerful must the camera be to be socially acceptable to my friends and family? All of these factors have become more important then what clothes I should wear recently. It sounds sad, but the truth is we are all completely interdependent on each other through our mobile phones. Imagine walking out of the house without your phone? Can you even imagine going a whole day without having your phone in your bag or pocket? I can’t, and I’m 50% terrified of the implication that has and 50% relieved that I’m not the only one who thinks in this way.

I suppose deciding what phone to buy comes down to what you intend to use it for. For me, I want to download new apps, share my photos, connect to people through Facebook and Twitter and shoot HD videos wherever I am.

I want it all.

Who would have thought that the Internet will revolutionize our lifestyle is such a big way. It is clearly the way forward and a boon to today’s generation. Whether its job search, social networking or even shopping, everything is now within reach, at a click of a button! Amazing, isn’t it?
I discovered the joys of online shopping when I quit my job to work as a freelancer. I didn’t find too much time to go out and shop so I thought, why not just order something from the web. One purchase turned to two, which turned to four and now I’m addicted! It is just so convenient! Earlier it all worked only with credit cards, but now there are so many ways to pay for what you buy, including cash on delivery!
The web is a place where you will find anything and everything you need, from diesel Gloucestershire to medicines for your grandpa, or even home decor services! I’ve bought so much off the web, from shoes, to clothes, to watches to even perfumes! It’s always a pleasure to just browse such a vast variety at your own convenience, because, hey, online stores never shut down!
The trend of online shopping is catching on fast, so much so, that even regular stores have opened their own web stores to aid customers in shopping. This has been greatly appreciated as now a customer can view all products from all stores all at once! Stores also save so much on space constraints as now they can simply store everything in a simple warehouse. This is why most products online are sold at a discount!
Discover the joys of shopping online and you’ll never look back again!

It is difficult to find a good place to shop online these days but ebuyer.com seems to have grown to become one of the more trusted websites around. Order any electronic item you want. From CCTV security to the Xbox 360, this site has it all especially for those computer junkies out there. EBuyer.com offers a variety of amazing options for consumers. It must be pointed out that this is not at store where you can buy clothing, so no compression clothing on offer here, it is strictly an electronics store…period.

Beginners often find online shopping as a cool thing. They feel very excited about the idea of ordering stuff from the Internet and eagerly wait for the product to land up by post. It is only when the initial euphoria settles down that people ask themselves whether they have really benefited by online shopping. Keep the following points in mind when you are purchasing compression clothing or other such stuff on the Internet.

Research Matters
Individuals who never finalize any purchase before visiting a dozen shops in real life often buy the first product they find on the Internet. It is easier to visit multiple stores on the web. Why ignore this benefit? Make it a point to visit at least half a dozen stores on the web before finalizing the purchase.

Understand The Structure
Big websites like Ebay and Amazon can be compared to huge shopping malls. These sites have numerous members who set up stores under the ambit of the mother site. Ebay will never sell stuff directly to you. It is a meeting point where you can find sellers for the stuff you need.

Of course, Ebay and Amazon have numerous rules and regulations to prevent frauds and scam sellers. However, the final deal is between you and the member/seller. Keep this in mind when you are buying stuff online. Some members on Ebay may have a better reputation than others.

You must compare different options before using your credit card to pay and purchase the stuff online.

Sometimes it feels as if everything I love is just becoming a little bit more boring. I know that sounds pretty stupid to say, but occasionally one gets the sense that one actually has enough DVDs, mobile phone apps, downloaded music and what have you. I’m even starting to feel like I have enough suits, and that can’t possibly be true. I’m beginning to toy with the idea of getting everything I own together in thick metal boxes, maybe those lead lined ones that you read about in thought experiments like Shroedinger’s Cat, hiring a boat, and taking everything out to sea and dropping it into the deepest darkest ocean.
But then I find something I really, really like. Lately that’s been digital music downloads of classic music – most recently a compilation of songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival. There’s something about the joie de vivre of their down-home Americana that makes me feel that not everything must be entirely wrong with the world. And while it may be a product of consumerism, and probably the internet is helping to destroy the planet or something, I love the fact that as a citizen of the world I’m able to download pretty much any kind of music from any part of it. I’ve just clicked on a download link for the new album by one of my favourite American bands; next up, I might want to indulge in some Swedish folk music. Or some Malian industrial rock. Anything is possible. And that’s a beautiful thing.
